Day Trip to Mallorca: Exploring the Caves of Drach
On a recent Mediterranean cruise, I had the pleasure of spending the day on this beautiful island. I had a pleasant excursion to the Caves of Drach. My only wish was for more time to explore this beautiful place.

During my recent day trip to Palma de Mallorca, I had the chance to explore one of the island’s most captivating natural wonders—the Caves of Drach. Situated on Mallorca’s east coast, these incredible limestone caves are reminiscent of the famous Luray Caverns in Virginia, with stunning stalactites and stalagmites creating a mesmerizing underground landscape. Part of the visit included a concert by a string quartet on an underground lake. It’s truly a beautiful, otherworldly experience.
One part of the excursion I could have done without was the stop at the pearl factory. While it might be of interest to some, I felt it was a bit of a time suck, and I would have preferred to explore more of Palma itself. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend booking a private trip to the Caves of Drach to make the most of your time. (I can help with that!)
There’s so much more to Mallorca that I didn’t have time to see. From its charming villages and crystal-clear beaches to its rich history and local markets, the island has an abundance of treasures waiting to be explored. I would love to go back to discover more of what this magical place has to offer.
If you’re interested in finding the perfect excursions for Mallorca, I’d be happy to help you plan an unforgettable trip to this beautiful island. Go Whimsy!
